Why me Lord is a cover of Cash's good friend Kris Kristopherson. Originally found on Kristofferson's Jesus Was a Capricorn, Cash's version appeared on the first album in the American Recordings series, American Recordings. Cash would go on to record another Kristopherson song for the series, namely, For the Good Times.
